Truecaller Hits 500 Million Monthly Active Users, Expanding Beyond Caller ID
Sweden-based Truecaller reaches 500 million monthly active users and expands its services to combat spam and scams.
Sweden-based caller ID application Truecaller has announced that it has reached 500 million monthly active users (MAUs) on its platform. This milestone comes as the company continues to expand beyond basic caller identification services, aiming to combat spam and scams in digital communication.
Truecaller's Growth and Market Reach
The achievement of hitting 500 million MAUs is a significant one for Truecaller, especially considering that it has added over 50 million users since April 2025. The company’s user base has doubled in the past five years, with India being its largest market at more than 350 million monthly active users.
Truecaller CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala highlighted that reaching this milestone signifies a growing need for tools to navigate spam and scams. "More and more people are seeking help in navigating the challenges of unwanted communication," he stated, emphasizing Truecaller's role as a trusted service provider.
Expanding Services Beyond Caller ID
In recent years, Truecaller has been working on expanding its services beyond just caller identification to offer comprehensive protection against spam and scams. The company recently launched new features aimed at enhancing user safety during calls and messages. These include advanced fraud detection systems that can identify suspicious numbers before a call is made or received.
Truecaller’s approach involves leveraging machine learning algorithms to analyze patterns of behavior, contact history, and other data points to predict potential scams with high accuracy. The company claims these technologies are designed not only to protect users during calls but also after they have ended, by providing insights into the nature of a call or message.
“Our commitment remains focused on continuously strengthening Truecaller with smarter technology and new capabilities that protect users before, during, and after every call or message,” Jhunjhunwala said. “Ultimately, our aim is to build a safer, more trusted communication ecosystem for everyone.”
The company also noted that over 4 million people subscribe to its paid plans, which offer enhanced features and additional protection against scams. While the exact details of these services are not provided in this statement, it is clear that Truecaller sees a significant market for premium security solutions.
Looking ahead, Jhunjhunwala expressed confidence in reaching their next milestone: 1 billion users. This ambitious goal underscores the company’s belief in its ability to continue growing and addressing the increasing need for reliable communication tools amidst an ever-evolving digital landscape.
