Background on Artemis Accords
The Artemis Accords were initiated in 2020 under former President Donald Trump's administration when NASA and the State Department spearheaded an international effort to establish guidelines for lunar activities. Seven founding nations joined this initiative, reflecting a growing interest among governments and private enterprises.
These accords aim at enhancing safety standards through practical principles designed specifically for space exploration endeavors. They serve as foundational agreements that promote transparency in operations while fostering peaceful cooperation amongst participating countries.
