A pro-crypto advocacy group is backing key candidates ahead of this year’s U.S. midterm elections, aiming to sway the balance in favor of crypto-friendly legislation.

As the U.S. midterm elections approach in 2026, crypto enthusiasts are rallying behind key political figures with Stand With Crypto (SWC), an advocacy organization that has been instrumental in shaping pro-crypto policies over recent years. SWC, initially founded by Coinbase and now a formidable voice for retail investors, is gearing up to back six "battleground" races.

The group's strategy includes endorsing incumbent candidates who have shown support for the crypto industry, such as Republican Zach Nunn in Iowa and Democrat Don Davis in North Carolina. SWC plans to mobilize its membership through voter outreach efforts and media campaigns aimed at increasing pro-crypto sentiment among potential voters.

Political Landscape and Crypto's Future

The stakes are high for crypto, with the outcome of these midterms potentially determining whether legislative progress can be made. SWC has commissioned a survey to gauge public opinion on cryptocurrency in key battleground states, revealing that neither party currently holds an overwhelming majority among crypto owners.

According to Impact Research's findings, 45% of respondents favored Republicans over Democrats when it came to supporting the industry, while only 26% preferred Democratic candidates. However, a significant portion—64%—of those who hold cryptocurrency expressed enthusiasm for backing pro-crypto politicians in this election.

SWC’s efforts are part of a broader strategy aimed at shifting the political landscape towards crypto-friendly policies. The organization plans to continue identifying and supporting key races as the year progresses, ensuring that their voice is heard among voters.

Polling and Advocacy

The survey conducted by Impact Research provides valuable insights into how crypto owners are likely to vote this election cycle. SWC’s political poll highlights a divided electorate but one where pro-crypto candidates have the potential for strong support if they can effectively communicate their stance.

“Our goal is not just to back incumbents who share our views,” said Sarah Thompson, executive director of Stand With Crypto. “We are also committed to opposing politicians with records against crypto interests and ensuring that every vote counts in favor of a future where cryptocurrency thrives.”

The midterms could be pivotal for the industry as Congress continues to grapple with issues like market clarity, regulation, and innovation. SWC’s proactive approach is designed not only to influence individual races but also to set a precedent that will benefit crypto in future legislative battles.
